About Me
Desiree Phillips is the writer and creative mind behind sustainability lifestyle blog Live Green-ish. After several years as a researcher in sustainability Desiree wanted a creative outlet where she could share her ideas and insights from her personal journey.
Desiree hopes that the tips and ideas she shares will inspire others to become more conscious of their daily lifestyle choices. More importantly, she wants everyone reading to recognize that a sustainable lifestyle is accessible to all and can be achieved through small and simple steps.
Where is Desiree from?
Desiree: I grew up on the Caribbean island of Tobago, the smaller of the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. However, my work and studies has caused me to relocate to other countries, including the United Kingdom and Barbados. But for now, I’m settled with my husband in Jamaica.
What’s your background?
Desiree: I received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies and followed up with a Master’s in Energy Environmental Technology and Economics from City University of London. For most of my career I have been a researcher for various organisations, including a role as Lead Researcher in Sustainability for a regional public policy think tank. I have been the keynote speaker, and a panelist at several public fora on sustainability issues. I am also the author of several public policy reports on sustainability.
What do you wish you could do more of?
Desiree: Travel is on the top of my list! It encompasses so many things I enjoy doing – trying different foods (I’m a self-proclaimed foodie), experiencing different cultures, and of course, taking in beautiful scenery.
